programming trex problems

3 tvserver clients

Hi guys. Finally I found a decent forum on this with tonnes of great info!
I'm really new to this and been having problems for ages, from bit of info I've found this is what I've done.

Got a duolabs cas 3 plus programmer
A T-Rex twin module firecrypt cam with sim card reader on front

Installed cas interface studio 8.3a.

Put trex module into its socket on cas3.
Select cam module, dragon cams, middle trex (plain blue bckgrnd)
Selected predator357 and let it load for about 5mins. Red and green light on solid, other green light flashes as it loads all the hex codes.

That seemed to complete succesfully. Now what should I do, is that it?

I'm using a fire dtv s2 with media portal tv server. Put the trex into that, cannot find any related options on media portal.
Firedtv came with a tool called FireDTV CI (MMI) which puts a CI icon on sys tray. That lets me select the tuner then theres a button to Enter ci menu which does nothing.

Put my legit Sky sub card in but nothing changes.

Completely at a loss here any advice would be greatly appreciated feel I'm missing out after buying all this hardware so far for nothing.

Thanks very much in advance

After playing around I found that I'd stupidly not inserted the cam into the firedtv ci propperly!!

CI menu tells me my predator verison and that the smartcard is nds.
It also tells me its not decoding which it isnt.
How would I get media portal to use the ci to decode?

Hi Dale,
the latest Predator is 364, but if you're only using your cam for your S*y sub then it doesn't matter unless the Predator 357 does not contain the S*y CAID.
The most common mistake made is that the card should go into the cam chip facing upwards.
I don't know about your set up but if the cam isn't recognised then maybe you require other software, you should be able to enter the cams menu and see predator357.

Hiya thanks for that. Yeah realised my mistake as you posted. Got everything in correct the cam and sub card aree being recognised in the ci menu. Only problem now is that media portal wont use it to decode them.

The similar to dvbviewer that came with the firedtv wont show a list of transponders, and if I type the frequencies in it doesnt find any channels even though it gets a full signal bar.

I must be missing something simple here...

I assume it's a PCI card, although I'm only used to reading about the Skystar, have you checked the cards website for any updates?
The software I remember seeing mentioned, in connection with the skystar, are Prog DVB, and other derivatives of DVB.
Try using the search option, at the top of the page, and type in skystar, or the name of your card, and see if any of the other threads can help.
