Just Sharing This Promax HD Ranger+

Looks good. Worth three times that if in really good working condition.

Just had a closer look at one of the screen shots Llew, it's calender date & firmware are well out of date - shows firmware ver: 18.1. The current ver: is 26.8

Last used 2013 if that date can be believed

I don't think the model has been out for much earlier than that. Almost new perhaps.

I'd steer clear, batteries are almost certainly buggered, the ability to switch on and show the screen display doesn't mean it functions as an analyser, having these repaired is not cheap. I bought a Roversat which turned out to be part of a job lot and although it did switch on, the battery was duff, it wouldn't take an update and I ended up selling for spares.

Yep, you could well be right. The used one i bought was absolutely pristine, came in the official Promax hard case with the accessories but like this one had not been used for a long time and was way back on the firmware version and wouldn't load an update via the net. Luckily the battery was fine and took full charge that would last around up to nearly 5 hours BUT - i did have to have a run down to the Promax depot for them to update it. Luckily again, they did it F.O.C.

** Promax HD Ranger+ owners ..... ever wondered what the insides look like
I picked this fully functional unit up with latest firmware, good battery, Promax hard case with accessory leads etc & very good cosmetically for under a 1/4 of the normal going rate inc postage. - *The reason for the very low price revolves around the fact that the unit has a couple of very thin TFT screen smear lines and a small circular smear at top left of screen. Fortunately none of these screen faults fall in any important area's of the screens that i use for frequency monitoring etc and the unit is perfectly usable. Video out from the units external jack is fault free. Decided to do a quick partial strip down to try and get some info off the TFT screen for possible replacement for if someone wanted to bring it back up to fault free state at any time.

Nice pix John. I wouldn't know how to open mine if I wanted to.
Where's the battery stowed BTW?

Edit: Ah, just seen it in the last pic :)

... Give over

Latest FW is Release 29.0 Build 270.
@Llew - contemplating whether to put a business tech request in to Promax for the HD Ranger+ to add a menu for an extended IF range setting down to say 250 - 2250MHz which i would find very useful
They can only say NO ..... or just not bother to respond like most of them do.
You don't ask - you don't get

Always worth a try, John. Certainly would help, but I suppose it depends on the tuner spec.
