Hi everyone
I have one of the above meters which i find is a great piece of kit (a little heavy 5kg )
But with the onset of HD channels becoming popular on satellite and now even a mux dedicated to HD on terrestrial TV is it going to become unsellable if i leave it to late and dont upgrade.Or can i still have many years if use wthout having to worry
 
Despite the popularity of DVB-S2 channels, you can and will be able to align dishes to all satellites with your current meter for time to come. There is no end for DVB-S in sight and analog transponders will cease to exist only in May 2012. Probably your meter will break before becomming obsolete!

On the other hand, if you really rely on measuring DVB-S2/DVB-T2, then a capable professional meter will cost so much money, that the money you make selling your 4C will be almost irrelevant and should not count on the decision.

Had one of those, great meter still top of it's class. I think you still have a few years left using it before considering an upgrade to MPEG4.
 
It's becoming more and more important to have a DVB-S2 capable meter. For example Astra 3B currently has 24 DVB-S2 transponders and only 8 DVB-S transponders. A DVB-S meter is still going to be ok for the time being for alignment, but not for fault finding or tracking down problems that are only happening on certain transponders.

MPEG4 decode on the other hand is not necessary. Most MPEG4 encoded channels are encrypted anyway. Don't get me wrong though, I'd love to have this feature on my meter, I just couldn't justify the 4000€ price tag.
 
I've had the upgrade on my Televes H45 to enable S2 measurements, but won't go for the decoding upgrade until they produce a T2 module, even then, not sure whether I'll be able to justify the expenditure.

I agree. I can't think of an instance where that feature could help me do a better job. The only time I ever use channel display on my current meter is if I am in a client's house and the receiver is broken, just to prove to them the signal is getting that far and the receiver must be the culprit. And even if there were only DVB-S2 transponders to choose from there are plenty of MPEG2 channels on them so no need for MPEG4 decode.
 
I also have the Televes H45 with S2 measurement. Waiting for some sort of T2 upgrade but would certainly go along with the others, no need to see the pictures.
