Nice meter, owned one a few years back.

Take a browse at the attached link; it's not a manual but may give you idea of what the meter is capable of.

It's been about 5 years so pretty rusty. You need to select the required band and voltage. The satellites should be in the satellite plan [orbital position and freq band/hi/lo]. There's also an antenna alignment mode for a faster spectrum sweep.

Found the manual _http://www.promaxprolink.com/pdf/PK4_4C-Premiummanu.pdf

This is an advanced meter. Is it the 'premium' model out of interest?

If you want to add a satellite or transponders for a satellite, you probably have to do it yourself, use one of the memory positions.

For general alignment, use the spectrum mode, on page 26 and 27 of the manual satelliteman links to. Set to spectrum mode, set to satellite band and widen the spectrum to full, then as you move the dish you will see the spectrum change as you pass the different satellites, can't give you any reference pictures, as the spectrum will look different from the UK, but for example, Astra 19.2 on low band vertical, will have have a lot of very sharp spikes, set between the rounded and lower digital humps, whereas Hotbird will be a solid row of rounded humps across the screen.

Read page 61 of the manual, looks like the meter in picture mode, should show NIT, giving you channel and possibly satellite details.

You have a superb meter there, but it will take a long period of learning and practice to get the most out of it.

Also see section 4.10.1.6 Sweep on page 93.

It offers the possibility of selecting the spectrum mode sweep rate. High resolution, fast sweep and antenna alignment [mentioned above]. You can use this mode for dish alignment and then by following Rolf's instructions.

Hi

Thanks for the help guys made my life a little bit more easier, Still have a few more questions if thats ok.

What do you mean by band ? is band like transpoder setting i.e channel 5 = 12422 h?
The recall button it has 99 settings, any idea how to edit them ?
Also there a function option called channel set , and has a few things like astra vl astra 28vh and etc?

I have tried it on my already tuned dish to astra 28.2 for sky .. i get a reading in spectrum , but no info to state iam on astra ?

Instructions are a little confusing as somethings vary i think.

I hope i havent bored u guys to death but im a real newibbie to such a machine.

This hobby is getting out of hand :-rofl2

Band on the meter refers to UHF or Satellite selection, [5-862Mhz and 900-2150Mhz].

The channel set function will show pre installed plan parameters.

Also what does the band mean ? 900-2150Mhz is it like transponder search?

Is there a way to edit the predefined search files?

Also software updates and also how to edit transpoder via pc ?

Thanks guys for all the help much appreciated:)

Band 900-2150Mhz refers to the satellite intermediate frequency.

The meter should have NIT.

Hi

After playing around with it i seem to have got the hang of it, i,e searching and finding channels on it, Few questions remain.

How do you enter or search for a transponder? i found a few channels via changing lnb voltage and changing form vh , hh , lh? and going through the band.

Also how do i know if my tune is good? via spectrum through the db ?

James
