C.J, the Black Ultra is a pretty good LNB, but the reality is if you can notice the difference the dish is already too small. Sometimes in some parts of the band the BU might have the extra 0.2dB SNR that takes you from a pixelated picture to a perfect one, but it would have no headroom. Personally I'd rather fit the correct size dish that has a couple of dB SNR in reserve so I don't have the customer ringing me up every time there is a drop of rain or the dish is shaking a bit on a blustery day.

Anyway, the thing I like about the Invacom is it is an all round LNB with good performance right across the band, whereas some other LNBs perform will in some parts and not so well in other parts, and sometimes completely skip even the strongest transponders.

Absolutely, nothing replaces a larger dish. However, there's no way I can fit anything larger than a 1.2m in the space that I have available, so even if get a glance at a signal with one LNB that I can't with another, I'll be happy.

Out of interest, which model of Invacom are we talking about here? And is there a single/twin version available?

I have the two QDF-031 C120 quads on a couple of 1.8m PF dishes that work very well in Finland. The single and possibly the twin versions aren't supposed to be as good in this model.

hi -- thinking of trying the invacom C120 Quad on the offset 1.8 channel master sometime in the near future - i,v had a number of different l.n.b,s on this dish with generally good results, but the inverto black pro twin that i,m using currently has become quirky (more about this later).
i,v always heard good reports on the invacom C120 Quad so its probably time to give one a try -

QDF-031 C120 quad, but we are talking about a PF dish here. For a motorised offset dish my first choice would be a Black Ultra single 100% of the time.

And yes there are single and twin versions of the Invacom LNB. Common wisdom says the quad is the best, but I have fitted at least one hundred of these LNBs and experienced lots more, and have never found anything scientific that confirms this myth.

We have generally found the Twin & quad work better in the low range for BBC etc on 28.2 but the single getting better results higher up when the dish is mainly used for Racing UK on 28.5. As I say it's a pretty general statement as I've probably only worked with half a dozen singles, but much more twins & quads.
