Quad LNB for Motorised Dish?

Can anyone tell me whether it's possible to use a Quad LNB with a motorised dish? The aim is to feed 2 receivers in 2 different rooms, both with 2 inputs, thereby being able to watch one channel while recording another on either receiver.

I know that only one receiver would control the motor and I'm fine with that. I was wondering if for example the weight of the Quad LNB would cause problems for the motor? Or are there any other problems I haven't thought of?

Failing that, what about a Dual LNB just to feed one receiver with two tuners (if I gave up on watching it in two rooms)?

Quad will be fine, but you will be guaranteed to get problems when the receiver in the second room is recording something and the receiver in the main room moves the dish to another satellite.:)
 
Its exactly how mine is setup apart from i have a fixed dish on 28.2e for the receivers upstairs :-righton

The main receiver in the living room which controls the motor only has a feed from the motorised dish where as the ones upstairs have a feed from both the motorised and the fixed dish through a 2 way DISEqC switch :D

The receivers upstairs only really ever use 28.2e so it makes perfect sense to do it in this way as it leaves the flexibility should i ever want to watch a channel on another satellite upstairs :cool:

Can I jump into this thread and ask what cabling you're using with your quad LNB? Are they individual runs or did you go with just one cable and multiple cores? I'm asking because i need to do a similar thing and am wondering whether I should have four cables (individually pinned) or just the one, which will be quite chunky. I suppose I have a further option of two dual core also?
 
Purely an aesthetic choice whether to use single, twin or multicore (the standard is 5 core with earth), no technical reason for it. You could use single cables and two twin clips, looks quite neat if well done and cheaper than multi cables.
 
Thank you both for your replies - I'm going to go ahead and get the Quad LNB. Good point about recording from the second receiver - in practice I don't think it's something I'll want to do very often so it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Also an interesting question about the cable - I'll see what the installer says about this. I imagine we'll have 4 separate cables but I suppose we could use twin cores if we wanted to. Can't use a quad core anyway as the feeds are going into 2 different rooms.
