Hi, Looking at the pictures, especially the 'remote', it appears that this unit does not have recording facilities. I cannot see an HDMI socket, so how is the HD signal fed to a TV?

A little less analogue, and a lot more crap.

The receiver has a DVI socket, similar to those found on the back of PCI cards (and some laptops). If your TV has no similar slot, then converter leads are available.

The component outputs will also allow high definition to be played via suitable phono connections on the TV

Thanks 'Channel Hopper'. I realise, now, that 'John896' doesn't say whether this receiver can detect HD channels. Other info suggests that this receiver requires some sort of card (again, not mentioned). Apart from that, will it receive current Freesat signals (MPEG4?)?

No it won't get freesat mpeg4 it will only decode dvb s satellite signals. These boxes have been overtaken by the likes of the azbox and are almost redundant now.

I have done much the same with some perfectly usable kit I offered here for free - 'tis a shame for things to go to waste but technology and "the in thing" move so fast these days.

Oi, not only have a lot of my current furnishings come from them, I've slept in one as well.
