I just want to know for educational purposes how and what you need to crack codes for satellite encryption? What tools would I need and what software would I need. I want to use it to try and crack Videoguard obviously for educational purposes not for doing anything illegal.

As they say round here Aye right. So getting Sky UK free has nothing to do with it?? ;)

The best crackers in the world have been working on Videoguard for years and havent got very far with it.

Today they use RSA 1024 bits:-doh!

It is easier to find a million pounds on a street than cracking that:cool:

To start U need a VERY powerful computer, we are talking about something like a twin cray or better

Then, all U need is time. More time than universe can offer

LOL yes, I read the figures a while back. Interesting but depressing!

I suspect that once you had set Deep Thought on it's somewhat lengthy mission, that Sky might find a way to upgrade their encryption over the next hundred thousand years or however long it would take...

:-rofl2

Put it this way... If it is ever prised open, it won't be by 'brute-forcing' the encryption.
