Advice Needed Question about tv's with built in cable tuner & virgin media

We've had very basic Virgin Media TV in our bedroom for a couple of years along with a V6 box which we've literally never used

We purchased a new TV for the living room back last year, an LG OLED55C8PLA which according to the specifications has (among other connections) a DVB-C connection

Does this mean we could plug our Virgin Media connection from the V6 box directly into our TV set OR is this not possible ?

No all the Virgin Media channels are encrypted your box from VM allows you to watch only the channels that you have subscribed to,
Watching Cable TV on other devices is illegal & no discussion on how to view is allowed on this site.

From memory of having had VM cable, there are (or at least were) basic channels, BBC, ITV, C4, C5, etc., that are in the clear that should be able to be received by a non-VM box, but stipulations about connecting non-VM hardware to their cable system basically means that you use their equipment or they could cut you off & potentially fine you if they find that you're using non-approved hardware...

The TV definitely will not decrypt anything though...

Thank you both for the replies (I'm pretty much a newbie to cable) and purely for clarification I was not looking to do anything illegal whatsoever, I was purely wondering if I could plug my paid for Virgin connection into my TV and not have to use the box.

Technically seems I could get a few basic channels but not worth it.

The FTA basic channels is I believe a thing of the past, when they were still broadcasting Analogue.

Yes Ive seen something along the lines of all VM channels are encrypted these days - even the PSB ones

BBC One, BBC Two, ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 SD are all still free to air on the Virgin cable network, along with a couple of “This Channel is currently off air” slates and all of the radio stations. Everything else is encrypted.

No problem, I'm assuming this is still the case as I last checked a couple of months ago at my parents' home in Staffordshire. They no longer subscribe to cable but the feed is still connected so I plug it into the DVB-C compatible TV they have every now and again to see what's happening on there!

Cable has never been available here in Worcester for some reason. It must be one of the largest places in England to not have it. Rumour has it that Birmingham cable ran out of money after they'd done Bromsgrove and never got down this far!
