About to set up a motorized system but a few question please……

Thinking about a Dreambox, are the days of using a jtag on any models over as I did have a system about10-15 years ago and had to jtag the box? Is the Dreambox stable?
Why would you buy the dreambox and not another linux based system?
DVB-S2 and DVB-S do I need to worry about this.

Any help appreciated

Clone dreamboxes can be flaky as anything as some of them are built with poor quality components.

Genuine DB's are overpriced and you would be better considering something like the Vu+ range.

DVB-S2 is used for high definition transmissions so if you ant to have a look at that you will need DVB-S2 capability.

Thanks for that.
I leaning towards the Dreambox new or secondhand not sure yet, i'll take it as there being no need to jtag the latest Dreamboxs.

Thinking about motorised you can use usals from the box to control the dish or you can use vbox to convert Diseqc to 36 volt positioning whats the advantages of either system?

Using Usals, you can go upto 1.2m dish (could be 1.8 but I am not sure).
With Vbox control, you can go to any size dish your motor/actuator can handle.

H-H Motors are generally specified for up to 1.2m, but that limit needs to be tempered by careful consideration of weight (Steel vs. Aluminium) and of exposure to wind.
