I have said this for almost 5 yeas now, the best place for your image is on a USB or with the 8000 you can use a CF.

If you choose to put the image on the HDD it will continue to run, it has to so you can use the image.

For the cost of a USB these days it is the best option.

As sonic1 has said mate, if you install images to HDD , any activity at all will stop the drive going to sleep. I have pureflash in flash and BA on SD card which is detected as USB. Works fine. With a 2gb Extreme III SD card in I've got loads of room for millions of picons and stuff like that.

CCcam and smargo works fine with NDS3. Running at 3.58mhz it doesn't even get warm.
