Hi guys

Thanks again for this excellent forum. I am constantly learning something every day.

Now have 7 satellites in my garden and have decided to get a Toroidal T-90, basically after the inspirational posts made by the legend that is Hakon!

As always what I know is what I know - on some subjects I could write a book on what I know, but sadly sometimes basic knowledge!

(i) Reverse LNBs - for DSS - DSS is for American sats or European ones too? Sorry can not find suitable info. Basically am I OK with standard LNB's or do I need to go for reverse LNBs?

(ii) The bar on which the LNBs sit - I can of course make my own extended bar should I want to pull even more sats which I feel I can do as I am lucky and have a clean sweep of the sky from my garden. Should I move house it will be the number one thing on my check list!

My question is, somewhere on the internet, many moons ago I remember looking at a company who made the extended LNB bar mounts but sadly I did not bookmark it.. could anyone help me out if they know of the company who supplies them?

Not sure what you mean by reverse lnb's do you mean a circular polarised lnb?
 
Standard 40mm Universal LNB's will work fine on a T90, you may want to go for narrow feed LNB's for close together satellites, i'e 13e 16e 19e. Very nice dish btw

The "reversed" LNB's are circular polarisation, I think it's just a US thing, Ku band broadcast to europe is linear polarisation, not circular. It's not someting I know much about, but I'll see what else I can find.
 
OK done abit of reading. It seems that accross the pond they broadcast Ku band with Circular Polarisation. Bell TV on 91w for example Broadcasts both Linear polarised Ku, and Circular Polarised Ku, as well as Linear Polarised C band.

On a toridoidal dish the signal is reflectad a second time. This dosen't effect linear polarisation, but it does effect circular Lh becomes Rh, and Rh becomes Lh, so a reversed polarity LNB is used to compensate for this. TBH though all this saves you doing is swapping the polarisation on the satellite settings of your reciever to make it work again.

So to answer the OP's question, you don't need reversed LNB's, because none of the Ku band recievable to you uses circular polarisation.

Inverto Black Premium LNBs are the most popular on the continent for use with the Wave Frontiers because the caps are very small at 48mm, narrower than the holder, and the body is vertical and compact so they fit side by side easily. They are also around €5, which helps.

The long neck of the Inverto Black Ultra can be used to put them right beside the Black Premium, with the cap in front and overlapping. This can be very useful for weak satellites and does not affect the performance of the Premium.

Don't get the Kathrein version of the ALPS LNBs, they are the same but x3 the price! Same specification, you pay for the branding.

Some Inverto Multi Connect LNBs have been reported to be useless in the rain. Perhaps an early production problem in part, but people on the continent have made plastic rain covers for them, which has made a substantial improvement in the rain...O-no
