Hello.

I recently set up a second satellite dish for a relative. Their system then had 2 dishes & 1 receiver. All was ok up until this point.

They then decided to buy a second revceiver for their bedroom, so that they could enjoy all their newly acquired channels in two seperate rooms.

Unfortunately, this did not work. When both receivers are powered on, they seem to share the channels between them. It shows half of them on one receiver, and the rest on the other receiver.

I would like to know if it is possible to resolve this problem, so that the channels from both dishes, can be viewed using both receivers, at the same time.

I should also elaborate on the system setup :
- an 80cm dish and a 65cm dish, both are joined by a
diseq switch, which sends the signals from both dishes down 1 cabel.

OK, here's the new part that seems to be causing the problem - The cabel is then split with a 2 way splitter (one of those screw in ones), and the 2 cabels then run into the 2 respective receivers. Both receivers are Silvercrest SL65 models.

I hope that someone can assist me with this problem.

Many thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Hi,

Very easy solution:

Fit TWIN LNBs to both dishes. Have two separate DiSEqC switches, one for each receiver. Run a separate cable from each switch to each receiver.

Thanks for the input, but is there another, less expensive solution ? - I really don't think that they'll be able to spring for all the new equipment.

I thought that the problem might be with the splitter. I was hoping that somebody else had previously resolved a similar problem.

I could use some pointers on which types of splitters have worked for other people.

There is no alternative option if you want the receiver to have full access to both satellite independently.

It needn't be too expensive, £50 would buy the two twin LNBs and a second DiseqC switch, so all you then need is a length of cable to run to the second location. Have a look at our supporting advertisers for the bits and pieces.
