R.T.E International(R.T.E=Republic of Irelands Terrestrial Public service broadcaster) Launch date has been postponed indefinatly due to economic woes.It was to get it,s programming from R.T.E 1/2&tg4.Had been rumoured to launch on both Freesat&sky on or before March 17th 2009(Many rumours had been around it was actually going to launch before end of this year)It was going to be FTA too!

Very disapointing move by RTÉ, not sure what they are up to. They might aswell just pay the extra copyright and make RTÉ One & Two FTA!

Would cost them far too much even just for the UK rights.

AT the moment the info is that RTE International may appear by the end of 2009, so dont hold your breath folks!

By law R.T.E Have to at least plan to live within their projected budget for each year,They have already announced euro10million of cutbacks on domestic services for next year.Even so the estimated E3million cost for international could surely have been found elsewere.

This is a disgrace and whoever took this decision should be sacked. £3million isn't a huge sum of money in broadcasting terms in all fairness, shame on them.
I'm an Irishman with 2 small kids living in Italy and this pathetic move by RTE will deprive them of learning a little of their heritage until God knows when.
Not good enough RTE.
regards
D.
