Well I have a Silvercrest but no dish at the moment, haven't got round to where I want to put the dish but garden or roof depending on which sat. Just beginner , but which Sat's channel should I go for up here that give a good viewing fta and subs updates if at a later time, what size of dish. Need to get round wiring, and the concealment/receiving quality factor?

Any help appreciated.
 
Depends exactly on your viewing requirements. Why not consider a motorised system, 90cm - 100cm should be good for Scotland. Only a single cable back to the receiver and if you have a good line of sight and the space, the dish could be mounted in the garden as said.
 
Silvercrest is a truly excellent budget FTA Receiver, but you can't upgrade to Subs with it.
 
Well, I was really hoping to keep it budget, at the moment, and would prefer to do a garden install for safety reasons. But a big but, is that there is a back garden and the TV is at the front of the house. There is a front garden but for security would rather not put a dish low down next to street, although it is in a cul-de-sac.

How to keep a quality signal for a distance of 40m, and what are the options for cable threading, can I use the bore hole in the sky dish, or will I make do with a window entry point at the front of the house..following cable over garage etc...

Any help appreciated..

If your choice is to go motorised with a garden mount ..
Your location may well be chosen for you ..as to which location gives you the most Southerly aspect ..front or rear garden ?
