reading an internal card in dm800

Guys, I'm at a loss. I managed to get CCCAM to work perfectly on my DM500. So today I switched over to the DM800 an nothing. I've installed CCCAM 2.1.4 and put the card in the internal reader.
At the most basic level my cccam.cfg reads
#This config was created using the Dreambox Config Creator.
#Designed & Written by B16MCC
SERVER LISTEN PORT : 12000
SMARTCARD CLOCK FREQUENCY : /dev/sci0 3430000
BOXKEY : /dev/sci0 xx xx xx xx
which should be enough to open up channels. But nothing. FTA works fine but none of the channels I've subscribed to. I've used the B16MCC boxkey generator so I know the boxkey is correct. So when I look at CCCAM Info and check Providers I see none listed. Is it possible that I need CCcam. prio, CCcam.providers, CCcam.channelinfo files also. If so could someone direct me to where I can find these files. If not I'm at a total loss

Did you install cccam from your blue button/download of your image?

SERVER LISTEN PORT: 12000

BOXKEY: /dev/sci0 XX XX XX XX

This is all mine is,

you have a space between Port and :

And Boxkey and :

How about getting rid of them

its just weird. as i said i use the same cccam 2.1.4 from the download panel for both the dm500 and dm800. i have the exact same cccam.cfg, cccam.providers and cccam.channelinfo in both boxes. Yet the dm500 works (opens all the subscribed channels) but the dm800 only gives me FTA channels. Also when I look in CCCAM info on the DM500 I can see a provider (which is the internal card) while on the dm800 I don't get any providers. Please don't tell me that the internal card reader does not work in my dm800. I am using a patched version of Nabilo 0.11 for boot loader 69

have you tried starting cccam via telnet with the -dv option?

now this i tried and failed on. i didn't know which directory to telnet into to use the cccam command

on your DM800 its /usr/bin

Thanks B16MCC. I did some homework since and found brand new patched version of Nabilo 0.12 on the site 8a8f8 as you had shown mw some time back. Seems that it has just recently become available. Loaded it and now I have the basic channels working. However no sports or movies even though the card is subscribed for this. Also the HD channels are amazingly glitchy, as in every few seconds. To compound this my remote control has reverted to its behaviour from time past where you need to go up to be within inches of the box before it works. Now this one I can handle as there is a kernel update to sort this problem. However I'm at a loss to understand why the sports and movie channels don't open. I have put my 9 digit viewing number into your boxkey generator and triple checked it. Any help would be great

It sounds like the boxkey is wrong. Do you have the 17 digit number from the sticker ?
When you get the glitching what is the reported ECM time on the screen ?

..also there has been some reports (and I know someone who has experienced it) of problem clone tuners. It only seems to effect HD channels. Maybe an inline booster would help or there is a mod that invollves soldering but i cant remember the details, ill have a look later.

I had that very problem with my Genuine 800. An inline booster works very well. It's made worse by a crap quality LNB , like the ones skl fit. I'm about to bin my zone1 dish and replace it with a 60cm tranparent dish with quad titanium.

Nothing wrong with Sky LNBs, some are better than others, but they aren't rubbish and are perfectly matched to the dish. Bear in mind that most people watching Sky and Sky HD in the UK are watching it perfectly successfully using standard Sky quads on standard zone 1 minidishes. Shortcomings are often more to do with the deafness of the tuners in many of the Linux boxes.

i'm trying to telnet into box to get cccam info. problem is that when i telnet in and type login root it directly goes in to box. if i then do an ls i get nothing. i tried to use a dummy login aaaa and then it asks for a password and the login fails. i'm at a loss to understand this behaviour unless the new patched version of Nabilo 0.12 i got has somehow got a username different to the standard set. has anyone got any ideas on this

Did you ever change your root login password before? In my experience installing a new image dosn't always reset your root login password to the default 'dreambox'.

Kinda pulling my hair out on this. Lets take it one issue at a time
- can open basic channels not premium channels using my fully subbed card in the dreambox. Now I've check the boxkey using B16MCC tools and also I have used a seperate tool to confirm. Same hex value result. Just to confirm it is the viewing card number and not the serial number?
- have tried multiple images. This is the first time I have used a card in the DM800 so its taking a bit of effort. The Nabilo 0.12 patched image does open the basic channels but has the problem that now the remote control is once again rendered a huge frustration as you have to be beside the receiver to change to any menu. The Nabilo 0.11 patched image does not support the internal card reader but the remote works perfectly. I know this is just driver issues but which ones
- the Telnet issue has me stumped. I can FTP perfectly to the box but telnet only allows me to enter user 'root' and then brings me to the dm800 prompt where when I do an ls I see nothing. This was never an issue before but seems to be consistent with all the images I have loaded over the last day

Now the most basic issue should be to clear the premium channels. I simply cannot understand why I cannot see sports or movies but worse is I can't telnet to the box to find out why. Urrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Its the box serial number you need to convert. Take it from the white sticker on the box , 17 characters, or from the system menu 9 to 11 characters. Do not use the number written on the viewing card !

On the original Sky box press the following :- Services > System Setup > System Details.
I think the menu structure is very similar on the HD box software.

The number you need is the 'Serial Number'

Thanks B16MCC will do this, at least this will be one level of frustration out of the way. The darn remote control issue is such a total nightmare. However I will live with this. I'll upload the patched version of 0.12 to the dm800 and do what you say. Maybe I can get past the other issues in time.

From your remote in kernel modules, enable SSH and then use putty (free download) to access the box. It might solve your telnet problems.

With regard to the remote problem have you eliminated outside interference ? On another board a member had his DM8000 replaced only to find the fault was due to an energy efficient light bulb in the lamp next to his box. Other factors are cordless phones and video senders.

Thanks all, I now have a working system. The satmate EPG on 0.12 is really very good and easy to sort. The remote control is the final issue. I had this problem with an earlier Nabilo version, then upgraded to Nabilo 0.11 (patched for my clone BL69) and suddenly the remote worked perfectly. Now when I put Nabilo 0.12 (patched for BL69) on the DM800 the remote control problem returns. So I do know this is a software driver issue, I just don't know which one.

By the way can anyone explain how to shut off the running background commentary you get on for example SLY1HD. Its really irritating. I guess its there for those who are blind and need such commentary to give them a feel for the program they are watching.

Also B16MCC can you recommend an in-line amplifier I might use for HD channels that are glitchy. It does seem to be only certain HD channels. Others seem to be perfect
