I now have a 1TB drive in my two bay NAS box.I did buy two but one was faulty, and went back.Sticking with one for now. I did think that I would be able to put one of the 500 gig drives that came out of the NAS into one of my external caddys, and cherry pick the files that I wanted to put back. However W7 cannot read it and wants to format it. I ran a live ubuntu 14.10 tried that .It sees the drive as 524MB 'EXT3' It just sees four folders. ftp. api_result_txt. Change_Nas_Prog_attr. opt. only opt has content look to be the NAS system folders. It appears that I cannot read the rest of the drive. Gparted sees the full size drive. I have put the two 500GB drives back into the nas box.No problem I can read all the files normally There must be some way of reading the drive surely.knowing me I am probably missing something simple.:) Edit I now have both drives open in Ubuntu there is a different folder on one of them.AJXplorer.Normally used to read the drive remotely.I am getting the idea that the only way to transfer the files is by using the nas box.Pics not very good . The NAS is a Dlink DNS-320 Please advise me.:)
