Although hitherto it has been the case that only dedicated TivùSat Receivers could decode the associated Cards and despite it still apparently being the case that a custom CAM won't be released until sometime in 2010, it seems that the Satellite fraternity have found a way, using Diablo Cam:

With all credit to Mickha and apologies for lifting the info, which is too valuable not to also be made available in the Tivù sub-forum :)

More details, please - anybody?

Hmm! As I understand it, the Diablo 2.3 Cam, which is the one in question, was withdrawn last april. In fact there is an official announcement to that effect on the official website.

A call to relatives in Milan has revealed that there are two widely available receivers from Humax and Samsung. They both support cams, but the Italian card reader is built in, and it is coupled to the specific registered card.

Also, a cam is being developed, and should be available by march 2010.

As far as I know only the firmware upgrade was stopped, this is where you could upgrade the Diablo 2.2 cam to a 2.3 version.
You can still buy several versions, of the Diablo 2.3 cam, including the light and the Wi Fi, although it is now limited to what it will open.

You need to brush up on your Italian:)
The most popular receivers here in Italy for tivu'sat are the Humax COMBO 9000 and the ICAN ADB 1110SH TivùSat. Third is the Telesystem TS9000 Tivùsat which has lost it's popularity due to serious issues with the decoder's current software, this should be resolved by an update shortly.
Where is this thing about cards and decoders being matched coming from??? To the best of my knowledge the cards will work in any tivu'sat box and I'm 99.999% sure of that.
There is no samsung receiver, it's a samsung CAM for DTT which also works with the tivu'sat card. The official CAM will be released in early 2010.

Thnx Dennis. "A call to relatives in Milan" Would suggest that I am passing on what I've been told. So brushing up on my Italian, which incidentally, I speak fluently, is not an issue.

Ooops! Check your facts before telling me what boxes you can and can't get. The following is a Mediaset Press release........I take it you have brushed up on your Italian.

And don't buy the ICAN ADB 1110SH. It looks rubbish with it's twin card slots. Having said that, it is HD compatible. But it still looks like rubbish. It also gives frequent error messages, it freezes, it keeps asking for a pin number, and the audio has problems. Did I miss anything? If I did, look up _http://www.i-can.tv/en/troubleshooting.htm

I'll be testing the Samsung Cam in the next few days. Will post results in near future. At the moment my Technomate recognises the Cam and can read the card serial number. Not tried it when Canale 5 is scrambled yet, as I'm at work at that time. Incidentally, for those of you who know what a Clanzer Build 5 is, it can also read the card of a fashion, but I need some software from somewhere. Shame its not supported anymore.

What this actually says is that by the end of the year there will be tv sets with 'built-in' or incorporated tivusat decoders from LGE, Panasonic, Samsung Sony and Vestel.
And that other 'external' decoders are on the way from the suppliers you mention above. The press release says from september but the latest news is these will be available in december.
So my facts were in fact correct. There is no Samsung receiver. The three receivers you mention above were the same three I spoke about in my earlier post.
For someone who says he speaks italian fluently you obviously cannot read it very well.

This decoder is not HD anything. It's got a HDMI port for sending upscaled pictures to your tv.That's it.
Plus there was a recent software update which resolved the problems it had. Tell the person who has it to do an ota update to software version 1152 3.

You need the Italian DTT Cam (Digitale Terrestre Cam) at the moment. There is still no news on the Tivusat Cam which was supposed to arrive in January. Tell your friend to bring you back the Samsung 2 Cam. Here is a link for information :

All I can say for certain is that here in Italy many many people are using this cam in various satellite decoders to view tivusat with no problems whatsoever.
But as this CAM is not the official one for satellite reception of the tivusat channels, it is after all meant to be used in a tv slot for terrestrial viewing, I feel I have to warn you that there are no 100% guarantees that it will work or continue to work in your decoder.
My advice though would be to go for it!

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone had used the diablo to read the TIVUSAT card. I've got my TIVUSAT card working with a diablo in my nokia mediamaster 9600 - all channels work fine except for RaiSat Premium which keeps cutting out randomly - I tried the card on a dedicated TIVUSAT box and it works fine so it must be the diablo - does this happen to anyone else? if so is this just a compatibility issue?

Thanks

Lots of people here are using the diablo but I didn't recommend it to the earlier poster as he specifically asked for a cam that reads the card without any loss of channels. I've heard stories of freezing with diablo on Italian forums. I didn't know the diablo worked in the Mediamaster 9600, that's interesting.

I might try and get my hands on the Samsung 2 CAM like you recommended the next time I am in Italy. I have an original Samsung CAM and while it does work on my nokia mediamaster 9600 it only unscrambles LA7 and RaiSat Premium - lots of other TIVUSAT channels are not unscrambled - it reads the TIVU card fine but it says I am not allowed to view the other channels - maybe it has old firmware - that is why I changed to the diablo.

It's not that your problem is the Nokia is it?? The 9600 has been known to be temperamental with new CAMS and newer versions of Nagra, Viaccess etc. Have you tried a different decoder??

I didn't think it could be the Nokia as all channels work fine except RaiSat Premium. The only other box I have is Telesystem so I am unable to test the diablo and TIVUSAT combination. I will see if I can find someone who has a newer box with a CAM slot and see if it makes a difference.

In terms of the Samsung Cam do you think it is worth me buying the newer SAMSUNG 2 CAM? Is it likely to be more compatible with the TIVU Sat Card?

Thanks

All I can really tell you is that this combination of Samsung CAM and Tivusat card is working fine here in Italy, many people are using it and I've not come across anyone saying that it doesn't work on any of the forums that I visit.
The official tivusat CAM should be on the market soon though so obviously that would be your best bet.

I didn't actually think TIVU Sat would release a CAM of their own as it was meant to be out early January yet I read they want to try and sell the specific TIVU Sat boxes first. I think I will wait to see if an official TIVU Sat CAM arrives as all my other channels are fine with the diablo. Thanks for your advice.

I have a Fortec Star receiver & I have just received a Tivusat card which has been activated in Italy. As suggested,I purchased a Samsung 2 Cam from an auction site in Italy to read the card. The problem I have is the receiver does not recognise the Cam.Is this a common problem or is there a chance the Cam is faulty?Pls advise how I may solve this problem
P.S.The receiver recognises the Dragon without any problems

What model is the Fortec Star m8 and has it got up to date software?? Can you try the CAM in a friend's receiver to make sure the problem isn't that??
