My Satellite Setup
I've not used a Sat before !!
I'm Trying to connect an Echolink 777 box
My Location
Cheltenham & Tenerife
Hi, Sorry if this is very basic but I'm new to Sat reception- and I've never used a decoder before,--
a bit like the man from Bartholana !!!
Can someone help me please?

Firstly is there an address or link to download an instruction book for my second hand Echolink 777 receiver ( circa 2007 ) please ?
I did Google this but seemed to find everything except that !!
So far I get 30% strength and 7% quality at the moment-- I seem to pick up a few signals on my meter, but not the right ones yet, I suspect.

Should I try and set the box to receive Astra first, then try and locate the Sat signal ??--or locate a signal and then find what it is via the box ?
Thanks, David

Welcome to the forum.

Firstly, have you tried the forum search function for a manual or the info you require?

Assume you are after Astra2/ Eb1 at 28e. The general advice using the receiver signal test screen or a squawker meter is to get yourself a signal lock and then scan the receiver to see where you are. From there we can guide you to the correct satellite.

A manual for the 777 can be downloaded from the Echolink site here -

_http://www.echolinkint.com/digital--receivers/fta

Alas, they are in French or Italian only. Illustrations might help though - otherwise time to brush up on your Italian/French?

Thank you for that,
Maybe I can set the menus to French and attack the problem that way--
anyway I'll give it a try.
Thanks again, Regards,
David

The Echolink wasn't a bad receiver at all, just a bit awkward in the that there appeared to be two menu strings within the set up.

It gets better 7 better !!!
--I got the French one-
-copy--
paste into an email--- send it back to me --- Google translate----Bingo--an English manual ( sort of !! )
Thanks again,
Regards,
David
