Since yesterday the site has been really slow to load as in taking minutes! No other site is affected. Does anyone know how I can sort this out please? No other website is affected.

Thanks.

I'm not experiencing any problems.
You could try a different browser, clearing your cookies, logging out, then logging in again.
Does this happen all the time, or just at certain times?

I tried clearing cookies, logging out, going incognito & using a different browser. It was all day yesterday. The line at the top to say it was loading moved about an inch and stayed like that, whilst the spinning circle to say a page is loading seemed to keep stopping for a moment and starting again. At first I thought it wasn't loading at all, but found that it eventually had when I looked later on. It was murder trying to move between threads, check messages etc.

However, sods law as it is, when I came back on just now to check this thread, it's working perfectly!

Very odd, but it's all ok now- so thanks for the replies everyone :)

Probably a "temporary" issue with your ISP - if that's VM, I noticed that our VM broadband was very slow late last evening as streaming from Netflix & Amazon Prime was very sluggish in our area (Area 14, W. London).

No issues here, I suggest you look closer to home, when I used to be low on cache, i.e. before I installed an SSD I would find the 'seasonal snow' could slow page loading, it really depends how much maintenance, clearing cookies etc, but as mentioned more than likely your ISP

Yes, it's VM. Everything else was ok, can individual websites be affected?

The Satellites web site is a heavy user of resources. It always takes longer for me to load pages here than on others that use phpBB for instance.

You should worry - I've got distracting white spots moving all over every page on the site, making it very hard to use comfortably.

It all depends on your internet speed, Sats UK loads in a flash and the girls often stream 2 or 3 movies at once with no slow down on the internet.

Speed here is close to instant, even with using phone wifi hotspot with french sim\ip (norway 4g roaming), internet going norway > sweden > some other eu country > france > uk ...and the same way again to get the site showing.

I thought the floaters were coming back, almost booked an eye appointment but remembered they are usually black.

...and those white things makes my laptop cpu usage move towards the roof, both vivaldi and firefox = lots of heat and fan works hard...

To get rid of the dandruff set javascript to off, this forum works fairly well and quickly without it.

Mine's doing something similar - will have to stop looking at this forum:eek:

Just closed this window on Chrome - and the CPU usage dropped like a stone ! :-wow

Bye bye for now to let the little lappie cool down - maybe "see you later"!

Thx - just found out how to do that in Chrome (which is the browser that I need to use for this forum!) , and "things are much better", i.e. NO "snow" :D

Just realised that after I disabled Javascript in Chrome, that made it impossible to "Quote" a previous message, ad so just had to find out to, and then, re-enable it! :(

Thus, I think "we (and certainly "I") have had enough "internet snow" for 2020!!
