Receiving ITV HD in the Canary Islands

I’m thinking of buying a receiver for ITV HD. Do I assume correctly that if you have a Freesat HD box you have to be able to receive ITV SD on Astra 2D and then press the red button to receive ITV HD. Whereas if you have something like a Fortec Passion you can pick up ITV HD direct on a 1.4 metre dish in the Canary Islands.

As I understand it the ITV HD channel is on 11426H on Eurobird 1, the footprint says you should be able to get it OK.

Perhaps someone with a suitable HD box could confirm the frequency.

Kingofsat says it's on the steerable beam which is pushing it for the Canaries but lyngsat says fixed beam which is receivable

I can receive SD channels from 11426H on my Digibox ok.

My concern is if I bought an HD Freesat box, can I directly select ITV HD from the EPG or do I have select ITV SD first and then press the red button for ITV HD. If it is the latter, I would have problems as I can’t receive ITV SD from Astra 2D.

Being in the Canaries, I don't think the Freesat box is ideal really, as many of the channels are from Astra 2D.

THe Technomate 6800 and 6900 are also reported to decode the ITV HD channel.

I'm also in the Canaries... I have an Loewe Compose tv-set with built in DVB-S & S2 mpeg4 tuner.... would I be able to receive any of theese Freesat services with that, I mean without having to buy an extra STB.
Like if I just point my dish to Astra 2..?

Firstly I think it is correct that you will need to go through ITV first via the red button. Yes certain ITV stations are available without using Astra 2D at the moment but long term this will probably cause you problems.

It would be better to get a HD Receiver that will open this and other things. At least if then the ITV HD is unavailable you have a receiver that has some other use.

Personally I use a Darkbox 2008 and ITV comes through brilliantly here in Lanzarote with a 1.2M dish but an 80cm would do the job.

Most receivers that can open ITV HD have had to have a software fix or they have to add the channel via PC editor (these are specific programs for the receiver). With this in mind I would say it will be doubtful that you will get ITV HD using the TV alone. But until you or someone else tries it then we will never know for sure.

Again it adds weight to getting a box that can do other things if/when changes occur.

I am not familiar with that TV, but with DVB-S & S2 mpeg4 functionality you should be able to reveive a lot.
