I have a client in Jordan (Amman) who would like, if possible, to get Sky Digital. He has access to a 3m and a 5m dish and maybe even a 7m. Even with dishes of these sizes, would any form of reception be possible?

If so, would both the Astra 2A/B/D and Eurobird channels be viewable? I know 2D would be VERY weak there.......

Any help greatfully recieved!

My information is that with a 5m dish your client should receive Astra 2A + 2B satellites OK, and maybe the 2D one (some channels). The 7m dish should get the whole SKY package, assuming of course a good LNB and a fringe area digibox such as the Pace 430N,

Hi, Need some urgent help if poss....a client of ours has standard Sky in Amman, Jordan receiving most channels bar BBC...they are desperate to see the olympics but only BBC, Eurosport will be covering these....does anyone know if Sky+/ Sky+ HD will be better in terms of recordings etc?

He may be able to watch the red button screens on 11,954 H 27500 2/3 using a standard receiver, they will also be increasing the number of screens, but whether they will be on a beam receivable in Jordan is another matter.

Can he see Eurosport 2 at the moment?

If he searches the above frequency using the add channels function in the services menu, they'll show as 6711, 6712, etc.

Expatshield & BBC on line would be a better bet.

A friend of mine tried expatshield the other day and the bandwidth was pathetic.

Interesting - thats the first time Ive seen that criticism of them.

Even so an IPTV solution of some sort is far more sensible to our friend in Amman than trying to install a very big dish.

ISPs usually trumpet their headline (or more likely typical nowadays) download speeds but for anyone hosting a Slingbox for friend/family it's the uplaod speed that really matters. Has anyone done a survey of ISPs to find the one with the best upload speed or, perhaps better, upload speed to price ratio?

I subscribe to a great VPN service. I tried many others but my current provider has apps which once installed on the PC give direct access to channels in UK and US. They also include a separate VPN app for national lottery, banks and the like. All for 5.50 per month.

it was BE broadband until a year or two ago, then it was virgin media, now it bt infity 40mb not 80mb option

I've just installed a Hauppauge Broadway T2 twin tuner DTT server, superb bit of kit, Satelliteman tested it and achieved 2MBps in full screen mode, works with a standard browser, on iphone, ipad and HTC Android, can stream to two devices at the same time. It will also relay a Sky digital picture with remote control, or a CCTV picture.
