Receiving Spanish TV in the UK

My Satellite Setup
MVision F8080 60cm Dish.
My Location
SW London & Alicante
Hi all,

I am new to this so please bare in mind when responding.

We are able to pick up FTA Spanish channels in SW London UK, but have noticed of late that some have disapeared or moved. Our reciever is able to pick up a fair few satellites but ideally as we are both big sports fans we would like to try to see sports channels as well, in particular Teledeporte y La2. My wife is Spanish and has a place in Torrevieja, bank account etc. She is frustrated that she can see these as FTA in Spain but not on our dish. I have read threads detailing advice etc but would like more info. All those spanish or anglo spanish members please get in touch. I would also like to understand more how satellites work so i can upgrade/change/modify our setup. I have an electronic/computer/engineeringbackground so not impossible to learn. I look fwd to your replies.

In order to stop abuse of the forum we have had to limit these abilities. When you've been on the forum for a while (a month?) and made a certain number of posts (10?) then further rights, including editing your own posts, become available to you.

I'm not sure whether that includes editing the title though.

The channels mentioned (TVE La 2 and Tele Deporte) require a Digital+ subscription carried on 19°e.

Hi, you need to know what satellite your dish is pointing to, possibly Hispasat?

and then make sure your channel list is up to date and rescan any transponders that carry the channels you want.

If a channel is FTA in Spain on satellite it will be here too.

If you can get a D+subscription for your Spanish address, then you can the card here too, with the appropriate receiver. Teledeporte is on the D+ package, don't know whre La2 comes from, kingofsat doesn't find it.

Robbo, thanks for the details.

La2 is bascially TVE channel 2, they tend to show the terrestrial sports on this channel.

Digital Plus : There is a basic package now of 15 euros per month in an 18 months contract - You will have all the main national FTA (ttp://abonate.plus.es/ofertadigitalplus/creatudigital.php?estado=seleccion) Package: Canal + Liga - You can get it though Hispasat 30W or Astra. The main national FTA have the same programs is if you were in Spain

Hispasat: Has few local FTAs in their international editions - But not a great deal and the international TVE ( the equivalent of the BBC here ) has just leave today Hispasat and it will be only available in hot bird 8 13E - This international editions do not have films or sports, my undertanding is that as they would need to paid a lot of money for the rights of emision ( hispasat cover most of europe ) basically only give you basic things.


The encriptation system for Digital Plus is Nagravision 3 - So you need the deco box they would rent you with the card, furthermore it is at your own risk to bring it here,. but aparently it works. ( I stress the rent thing; as opossed to sky, you never own the box and you need to return it at the end of the contract )

I am looking to contract this package myself.. BUT I bit of warning,. this company is well know by their "customer service and their comercial practices " - if you google few spanish forums you will see what I meant, I dont want to ruin you the fun.

from next month there will be a special box (iKUSI) to receive the national spanish DTT thru Hispasat,i still do know what are the conditions to get the box ,,its a combo with (Nagra tiger)condicional access exactly the same like Tivu in italy..so stay tune...by the way the Premiere league will be as from next season 2010/11 thru D+ and GOL TV (part of DTT premium)...cheers
 
I hope you are right,.. I been reading yesterday in some spanish forums and aparently there are a very strict control in who can get sat TDT. It will be only allowed to people not able to received normal TDT. Basically you need to prove that you are in a shadow area. Perhaps is something to do with the subsidies of the goverment for that boxes; but in any case at this moment you can not buy them.

i can tell you things will change soon and will be similar as in italy with Tivu
