not posisble final test of a firend that has installed a andrew 4,5 m dish are negative!
middle east tv was posible with this dish size,now everything is gone,including the analogue channels:(
maybe 7,or 8 meter vsat antenna needed,the symbolrate is to low,of all amos 3 channels,this the main reason,why the singal,is now unreachible here in central europe!..

Hungary is more East than the 4.5m of which Turok told you about. So your chances are higher to get something but obviously you will need a much bigger dish. I just can tell you that in Thessaloniki a 3.10m Famaval receives just all the Amos 2/3 frequencies. 11647V is the hardest of all because of an interference of the neighbour satellite 5W at 11638V. So far i have no information about reception in Hungary on 3.70m+ but look for the user skystar here in the board. He is in contact with DX Bozòth who is in Eastern Hungary using a 4.60m and he might be able to give you exact information about if it's worth to invest a fortune or not. Here's also a hungarian sat board where you could ask as well: _http://www.netboard.hu/viewforum.php?forum=47

There remains still a way of watching the channels but you will need a device called slingbox or HAVA (some prefer first, some latter). This device will be installed in Israel receiving all the stuff you want to have access and then you will do remote zapping. I want to point out that i've never tried this before and thus cannot tell you much about it so you have to do research on your own. Be aware that this way the quality will be much inferior than over satellite and that your supplier in Israel should have a non volume based flatrate with upstream speeds at least offering 512kbit/s only for your TV needs which means that if he uses internet also he should obtain a 2nd line only for you. Of course you should also have unlimited internet with at least 1Mbit/s down speed.

Hi Raviv,
There is a service on Hot Bird 13E called TIN The Israel Network.
_http://www.tin.tv/homePage.aspx?l=1&z=0

Subscription isn't cheap, but would be a lot cheaper than investing in a huge dish or using Slingbox and high speed internet cost.
They don't give details about the cost for someone living in Israel (they checked my IP and gave a stupid message that the service isn't available in my location), so let us know how much it will cost you when you browse their site, OK?

Hello good morning!

i still have a us sling box,but no programm source at the moment!

my idea would be that hb13 dish shares with the slingbox the amos3 east beam ti us,and we send you the european beam,then we have all channels:)

in the meantime,new sling boxes with hd suport are out,iam not sure is there any other mediaplayer in the meantime avalible,that can stream multichannels,at one time,normaly only one channel streaming posible!
the main bigest problem is the low upload ratio on the dsl lines,i have 6 mbit download,but only 412 kbit uplod the proverpaper told i should have 768 kbit upload but i dont reach this rate,how is it in israel?
this is the mainproblem,why we canot stream at the moment in good quality,until sdsl lines are coming ,that are fast enough in both direction,with the same speed!

Ciao Paolo,

Hasn't DX Bozóth changed his 3.7m to 4.6m dish ? I think skystar from Budapest told that. Anyway, i don't think many people would invest a fortune just to receive just a part of the needed frequencies for some hours. DXing is a nice hobby but permanent reception of all frequencies are 2 different cases.

Turok,

You would need a second flatrate just for slingboxing. Your upstream is far too slow that you too could use the net.

Greetings to both of you :)

Hello!
where is the location of DX Bozóth ?

sounds like it is the same then on the bbc beam,in cyprus!
good reception there,some 100 km going north or eath,and then the signal is away,same in turkey on the old astra satelites,much biger dishes are reqeiered there,that means,the area when some one have signal with 4 meter in europe,is very limited does not mean,that everyone with dish dish size can receive the satelite,but when it should be posible,like paul told us,then on other locations 6 meter or more reqeiered!

i say nothing is imposible,but to expensice!!

As i wrote above "..DX Bozòth who is in Eastern Hungary.."

I believe that it's regular beam edge reception and not because of a sidelobe. There are some reports in Eastern Europe up to Poland.

Thanks for the responses!
I do have a sub for TIN on hotbird, but was hoping to recieve amos3 and pay the same price for a basic package as I pay now for one single channel (20 euro).
I could install a dish of up to 3m, if positive results are guaranteed, however as it stands now it'd have to wait

how many db the amos 3 east beam in hungary is stronger then in austria?
i think its depents where you live in east or west hungary?

out of foot print reception never garantee,always signal,intresting whould be is the signal better in the night or on day time,normaly in the night like on turksat east and badr 25,e,but in cband is via versa on 40,5w nss 806 for e.g some transponders are stronger in the night time others in day time!
are in hungary,good satelite store,where you can find big dishes,including installtion?

Hi Raviv,

I would like to point out that all the 5 FTA Israeli channels on Amos have moved last week to Amos 3
The signal strength in Israel is a lot higher now which might make it easier for you to receive them now than before the move. No guarantee on the dish size though, but a 3.0m does seem to be a step in the right direction.
If you are going to invest in this dish size, then you should investigate first on the best dish make, LNB, Coaxial cable and get a professional installer.
Check our forum. There are plenty of info about large dishes, or post a new thread.
Good Luck. :)

My post above refers to Amos 2/3. I repeat: Full reception in Thessaloniki requires 3.10m. A 3m could give you some of the frequencies but probably not all. If nobody is near you with a 3m and can tell you how the situation is then nobody can guarantee that this size will be enough.

I observed radical changes in the reception of Amos 2 and 3 (Middle East beam) with respec to a couple of months ago. Before the lunch of Amos 3, I used to receive all the vertical tps. of Amos 2, even though
10842 and 10890 with minor signal qualities.

Now, the situtation is the following:
10720V no reception except for some hours;
10758 V, 10842 and 10890 reception just at the limit;
10806 V and 10958 better reception;
11658V good reception
11646V and 11629V partial reception (good reception from late afternoon)
11474V good reception (especially from late afternoon, but I have to move the dish a little bit and very carefully to avoid interference with AtlanticBird 5W (TCM)).
11222V and 11258V reception (good from late afternoon, again after moving little bit the dish with respect to the "old" position of Amos2).

My dish is a Prodelin 11ft (3.34m) with Invacom quad, location Potenza
(Basilicata, Italy).
