Reception of Badr5 in Ireland

From south Limerick ,transponder 12284 V 27500(West Africa (Ku band)This is weird.I can receive signal here on my 100cm
MBC MAX
MBC 2
MBC Action etc...


Anybody else in Ireland or UK can receive signal?

I get 60% on 12284H 27500 weak signal in general but sometimes working perfect,for example last nite.

Well, perhaps not so strange after all - we have many demonstrations of the side lobes of various antenna designs on the sats (eg 28.2E in Scandinavia).
Looking at the footprint map Badr 5 at 26.0°E - LyngSat Maps , Southwest of Ireland is closer to the official footprint of the West Africa beam than NW UK.
And with a little extra side-lobe influence, it may explain why it's working south of Limerick.
Add in some daily / seasonal wobble, plus some atmospheric effects, and you can end up with what @Mangaran sees.

MBC pack is on Badr 7 NWA ,not 5 .

12284V is on Badr 5. There is a transponder on Badr 7 with an MBC package on but that wont reach us in Western Europe

Here, far away north-east (Finland 63N 22E) Badr5 12284V NWA MBC is weak, but usually receivable with 3m.
Badr7 MBC 11270V is easy, receivable with only 1m.

Nothing here, near London on 1.5m. On an analyser it's hard to differentiate anything from 28E which is a few dB over noise.

The global beacons are strong enough.
L to R, Horizontal, Plot in 3kHz BW
Eutelsat 25B at 25E TT&C?? 11698.6
BADR 5 11699.2 (11699V is a similar level)
BADR 6 11700.2
Unknown but peaks at 26E, poss BADR 7? 11703.0

I think a lot of the signals from 26 east are washed out in the South East of England due to similar much stronger frequencies from 28.2 east this is why they can get Badr-7 @ 26 east in Western Europe & Scandinavia,
The further away you are from the UK footprint of Astra @ 28.2 east the better chance you have of getting 26 east.
