My Satellite Setup
Sigh-only Sky for now-Im back in the UK.......
My Location
Blackpool(Ex-Benidorm and Paignton)
11.978v

My friend in Benidorm gets this transponder (2xITVs,I think) with a 65cms dish.I now live in the South West of England, but cannot get it with the same size dish here. Its not important,of course, just wondered why?. My trusty Grundig box seems to be working ok,in fact Ive got a few other ITV regions in on "Other channels",but I get the "No Satellite Signal received"prompt for this frequency.....Any ideas please?. :)

That TP is not one of those prone to being affected by DECT phones etc, but the fact that you uttered the word "Grundig" sets off alarms - especially in the same breath as "trusty".

Grundigs are particularly prone to odd behaviour when Power Supply Smoothing Capacitors degrade.

Do you have any other peculiar symptoms?

Yeah - drown the Grundig in a bucket of water and get a decent make! :D

"Controversial" :cool::D

Tivu quote-"Do you have any other peculiar symptoms?". Well, come to think of it,I do get a bad migraine every time I ask how much a bottle of wine is.....:)

Analogue quote-"Drown it in a bucket of water". Hopefully,I am looking for the record for the longest lasting Grundig 310!.:)

Seriously though,I bought this Grundig 310 brand new during Skys transition from 19 to 28(so how old would it be?),and this is the first sign of it beginning to fail if you are correct. After your diagnosis I dug out an old coal-fired Amstrad DX 100 I brought back with me and tried it this morning. It works perfectly(apart from being in the invalid carriage range for speed,of course!).And it receives this freq.no problem(90% strength,80%quality.)Thanks,Gary.:)

Well, Gary, if you really value that Grundig you can get repair kits.

Probably not worth getting a third-party to replace the PSU, but a straightforward DiY jobbie for those so inclined.

I guess the transition from Rioja to Cornish Chardonnay is a difficult one.

These guys offer a repair service _http://www.sers.me.uk/Tuner%20Repairs.htm , but as Tivu says, may not be worth it, as the Grundig is quite slow compared to late model boxes, you can probably get a Sky+ replacement for not a lot of money.

Should be 11973V.

Well spotted, sir, and thank you!. Where did I get 11978 from?.I knew that a freq.would come in 2 or 3 points either side, but just assumed 11978 was the official freq. Anyway, the bucket is back under the sink,Im just going out for a bottle of Devon plonk, as the record is still on!.Thanks to all. :)
