Hi Guys,

Looking for a recommendation for an LNB

A friend of mine has a SKY+ HD digi box connected to a 2.4 Channel Master on which the LNB is now dead. He can get a fairly statndard one here but was told that the reception of some channels (such as C4) after 10.30pm can get a bit spotty as "standard" LNB's aren't powerful enough. The recommended LNB should be a least a Quad (maybe upto 8) as he wants multiple feeds and to share with his neighbour (also on the same dish).

Any feed back, as always, is much appreciated.

Cheers,

Ian

I am guessing it's the offset dish? What does "standard" mean? You are probably better off with a Channel Master feedhorn and a C120 LNB attached to that. I've only tried an Inverto Black Pro C120 LNB but there are others. Although, not sure there's a 4 output version of that LNB.

If you want to try a "normal" LNB then a Black Ultra is the one to go for. It has a 4 port version (quad).

Also, the brand new Astra 2F is up in space right and is due to go live over the coming weeks. Signal levels are very likely to change from what they are now although noone can say whether it will be for the better or worse where you are.

Yes an Inverto Black Pro c120 or Invacom c120 I would have thought.

Thanks guys !!

Invacom do quad feed lnbs but the black pro lnb is only in single or twin.

And as already mentioned best using the matched feedhorn and c120 lnb.

whatever your dish is get the matching feed horn (look for f/d ratio) (do not tell me there is no need of feedhorn for 2.4) 99% it is prime focus because I can hardly imagine 2.4 offset Dish for the domestic use
I know some , but they are TX/RX for the commercial use
if you want to split the signal to your friend, your neighbour and somebody else.... you need to get c120 Quatro LNB (Invacom) and Multiswitch
IF you want "more powerful LNB " read my thread about LNB...... the main point apply not only to offset but also prime focus dishes

CM 2.4 offset. Definately source the CM feedhorn for this model (if not already with the dish) and the correct Invacom C120 LNB - the best (quad or quattro depending on how many outputs you will need in future). But in the next few weeks BBC, ITV, CH4 & 5 may not be recievable at al with the new satellitel!
