Hello all,

First time posting here so please forgive me if this is in the wrong section.

Basically I've come across a lot of threads talking about various ways of pulling video off the Sky hard drives onto PC/DVD etc.
My query is whether this can be done the other way around. Can a video in mpeg or avi format be converted to .ts or .str (whichever the sky box uses, I seem to see both of these formats cropping up in a lot of threads) and then be put onto the sky hard drive to play through the sky box? I have a 500gb hard drive full of movies that I would rather watch this way than burn to dvd.

Thanks.

I doubt it although others may know for sure.

As an alternative have you considered buying a media player which could play those movies directly to your TV? In my case I have just bought a BluRay player which has some basic media player capabilities, I recently played some avi files from a pen drive (Men in Black and Roger Waters The Wall) and it made a verygood job of it.

It'll do me until I can get somethig better.

Or another alternative is apple tv with a jailbreak and x-box media centre this is the way forward. You can stream Internet footy etc to your tv as well as films etc. I will post more on this scenario once I receive my apple tv
