Have you tried with any firewall and AV software disabled on your PC? Also turn off any P2P software on your PC.

Does it do this with FTA channels as well as encrypted?

Hiya m8...yes i have tried Fta as well...still same..
firewall disabled...
Does the link speed /duplex mode have to be set at a certain speed??
ie 10 half mode, 100 half mode etc
Thanx

The LAN normally works to the fastest possible. Is the hard drive internal or external on your PC? Is it wired or wireless?

hey really sorry it took me 6 days to reply..Doh..

drive is internal ide in my htpc....I have tried both wired and wireless and result is the same....
Can the dream process fast enough to cope with recordings, emus etc??

Ps sure i had this working many moons ago using gemini 2.9??
could it me an image problem? what is your set up mhku?

Thanx:-bigsanta

WHen I used my 500s it was Gemini 3.6 (3.4?) and I recorded to the hard drive in my PC. When it records it just writes the .ts stream as a file on the PC, which can't be particularly processor intensive. If it does it for FTA as well as encrypted channels I'd look at the PC; but what are the mount settings for the PC hard drive

The 500s should be able to cope but make sure that there is plenty of space free in var- ideally use no more than 80%.

You could try telnetting into the Dreambox and check the processes that are running when it's recording. I think the command is something ps -ef
