Anyone owns or has had an experience w/ a Reelbox with a DVB-S2 tuner and seen the images in HD? What are your thoughts/opinions on this equipment?

How would it work with HDCP?

Since the expansion card is with HDMI it's already HDCP compliant(_http://www.reelbox.co.uk/reelbox-hdextension.html).

It having HDMI doesnt mean it will have HDCP support, I dont see the major movie studios signing off on such an intresting receiver if you catch my drift.

Maybe its a legal loophole? As you dont seem to be able to buy the box with HDMI already fitted only as an addon.

It's part of the HDMI specification that it includes HDCP, it's a must with HDCP on HDMI.

DVI on the other hand doesn't have that regulation and can come either with or without HDCP.

Sorry remlap, but as Likvid posted, the DVI can come with or without HDCP protocol as compared with the HDMI must come with HDCP.

DM8000 won't have HDMI as they wouldn't licence it; guess it's the same?
DVI supports HD so not really a problem.

As far as SD on component goes tis brilliant some of the best pictures i've seen on a DVB reciever, mind you thats down to the Focus video processing chip which is fully programmable.:-worship

It is by far an amazing piece of kit tis just the HD side of things i'm not happy about, if the HD extension is made availible soon i think it will be the best on the market and so it should be as it's costing somewhere in the region of £800.00, if something similar is released lets say the DM8000 pips it to the post i will go for that and sell this ony because it cant do HD at the mo.
