Hello all, I am totally new at this entire satellite TV thing, so not even sure if this is possible, but thought I'd ask. I've spent an hour trying to get educated so I don't ask a dumb question so I'm sorry if it's still a dumb question.

I live on the east coast of the US and would like to receive the German satellite channels I can see at our house in Germany. I have tried the ProSiebenSat1 (Welt) channel available through DISH network but didn't like it. So I canceled DISH network and got cable instead but DISH left the actual satellite dish and the LNG (I think is what it's called) up there on my roof. Can I use that dish to receive the regular satellite channels from Germany? What else do I need to buy? I have a TIVO DVR but nothing else.

Not interested in stealing or hacking anything, just the normal TV channels available in Germany using a satellite.

Thanks,
Ken

Its not possible for you to receive any of the satellite broadcasts from European satellites. They use zoned beams firing into Europe, and are not transmitting anywhere near the USA.

You might try some of the channel websites to see if streaming is available to you.

Or if you have friends or relatives in germany, use a Slingbox and slingcatcher to connect to your TV. Both ends require a reasonable good internet connection.
