Hi, I'm currently getting interference on the LNB feed to my Sky Plus box from a local Shortwave broadcast station. I'd like to fit a bandbass filter in the Sky + box IF input question is what frequency or band is the IF feed to the Sky+ box and does anyone know where I can purchse a ready made filter. Note, braid breakers wont work as they will stop the DC feed to the LNB.
 
Intermediate Frequency range is approx 950MHz to 2150MHz (L Band).

Unless the Short Wave station is emitting more spurious cr*p than EMC Regs permit, then a decently installed LNB feed should be sufficiently immune.

As it clearly isn't, the filter may be a panacea, but do you have any joins in the cable run that you can eliminate?

Even apparently well fitted Wall Faceplates can be weak points unless they are good quality ones that maintain full screening throughout.
 
Just as a matter of interest, how have you determined that a short wave transmitter is causing interference and what are the symptoms?
 
Is there a shortwave station broadcast from Hertfordshire ?
 
My guess is he may mean a fellow Radio Amateur - we do get blamed as a matter of course!

Taffman does use the term 'braid-breaker', maybe he is one as well.

I've got a hunch it's a base-station myself.

what problems are you having??
if the short wave is transmitting with a million watts of power like the vatican is its not to likely.
they would have to be close as well like next door to your dish.
i ran a smatv system and 2 people has sw transmitters 50 meters from 3 of my dishes and never had a problem.
they had 150 watts of power.
what problems are you having?
what time of the day?
what channels are affected as well?
this is all important information is tracking the problem down
