Hi everybody, the problem i am having is with the RF2 output on a Sky+HD Box that keeps failing.

My system consists of a Sky+HD and a standard Sky box feeding RF2 outputs into an RF combiner (SPC4) for Sky Eye control and then in to an 4-way distribution amp for distribution to the other TVs in the house.

My problem is when using the Sky+ HD box i can not change the channels all of a sudden from any of the rooms using the magic eyes however i can change the channel on the standard Sky box with no problems at all. I updated the softwear on the Sky+hd box but made no difference. This was working perfectly for the last 2 years without any problems. I decided to try and swap the Sky+Hd box for a spare one a friend of mine had to try and narrow the problem down and when i swapped the boxes over it was back working perfectly again but this only lasted for around 3-4 days and now i have the same problem again. I can not change the channel on the Sky+Hd box from any of the rooms using the magic eyes but the standard Sky box is working fine. I am able to change the channel on the Sky+HD box when pointing the remote directly at the Sky+Hd box though.

Your thoughts would be much obliged.

Have you checked that all the boxes have the RF power supply turned on in the menus? Are there any loose or damaged connections on any of the coax cables and plugs? If there are small breaks in the cables the RF signal will still get through but the power/IR signals may not.

yes i have checked that the RF power supplies are on and working fine, just checked the cables and they are all free from any breaks. Once i swapped over the hd boxes there last week the replacment box worked straight off no problems with the sky eyes but again stopped working after about 4 days.

If you tried with a different HD box and it worked, but then stopped working, it could be the SPC4 on its way out, the trouble with faults like this, is that they can have several causes.

Have you tried using the TVlink eye straight from the back of the HD box? There is an option which can solve problems like this and it's to power the SPC4 directly with the side input.
