Advice Needed Right angle f connecters

Good evening I wonder if any of you gentlemen have problems with this type of connecter.

I have had several intermittent signal problems on KU band which I tracked down to the angle connecters.

C band signals suddenly disappeared this evening then as quickly returned, I have not found the culprit yet.

I have had to use them behind the TV on the V boxes, as the heavy coaxial is difficult to root otherwise.

Better off using a short RG6 patch lead and F to F barrel. Not had any problem with the ones I use though.
 
FWIW, right-angle connections at UHF+ frequencies will always be a problem because of signal reflections at the point of the physical direction change - no real solution AFAIK and so probably you need to get the very best (read expensive!) connectors - alternatively, try rearranging the kit to reduce the angle at which the cables approach the boxes, OR use shorter & thinner (and thus more flexible) "lower grade" patch cables over the last few inches/cm.

TBH I therefore agree with rolfw in that I don't think that the latter "solution", with a "few" very short extra bits of (decent - but I would use PF100 or similar!) sat coax and a couple of properly fitted F-c0nnectors each, would make a huge difference to the levels of signals that get to the boxes - so that would be my approach.
 
Thank you gentlemen for your advice, the angle connecters at least the ones I have used suffer from a literal intermittent break in the feed.

Something inside them is not connecting, I had not thought of the additional problems of signal reflections.

As you say short thinner patch leads sounds the way to go : )

I have many, and use them extensively for the same reasons as you.
I've had several fall apart.
Before they fall apart, I'm sure they'll leak radio.
Most are just cheaply made.
If you get quality compressio ones like PPC they'll last for a long time and stay tight.
That's my way forward :)

UHF+ frequencies? The frequency in the cable is at an intermediate frequency, having been converted by the LNB to a frequency more suitable for cable transmission and processing by the relatively cheap electronics in the demodulator.

Of course the right angle connection may still cause problems at intermediate frequencies :) Or am I missing something?

Note: I've only ever had bad results with them, they really aren't very robust.

By "UHF+" frequencies, I mean those over about 300MHz - which obviously included the LNB o/p frequencies of between 1 & 2GHz - so "what's your problem" over the terminology?

Thank you st1, I am using Webro wf125 to give signals the best shot : )

I have not done a proper search yet, but a tool to cut the cable and crimp if I go for that option is on the list.

Watched a couple of videos on you tube and the cutting tool made a nice neat job.

Side cutters work fine, but for me a tidy installation is part of the enjoyment.

I often end up nicking the braid with a Stanley knife : )
