Hello everyone. My first post here. Hope someone can help or just give me some advice.

I had a customer today who has just put up their own 90cm dish to be able to get Romanian tv. He lives both in the UK and Romania and he has a fully paid for viewing card.

He is getting all the channels fine but he cannot watch the one`s he is paying for ie Disney Channel & Cartoon Network yet he is using the same receiver here that he was using in Romania and it worked fine there.

I went round with my meter and he was aligned to Hotbird H, but no signal on Hotbird V.

He also rang the customer care number from his viewing card and they said the only satellite he can get all the channles on in the UK is Intelsat.

Was just wondering if anyone knew if this was the case or am I missing something?

Cheers,

Ryan

Which Package is he Subscribed to ?

ie Akta, RCS Digi TV, TVR Package ?

Akta is on Astra 4 (5E) for example

Digi TV is on Intelsat (1W)

Why is the aligned onto Hotbird where theres almost no Romanian channels on there? I think you will find the dish needs to be slewed round to Intelsat 10-02 at 1W

Yes. 1W.

Akta doesn't carry Disney Channel and Cartoon Network.

Bad research on my part.

Thanks for your reply. Is Intelsat Thor 5 on the Horizon meters?

Basically, yes.

Thor 5 and Thor 6 are co-located with Intelsat 10-02

PS: Dish size should be ok. 52dBW EIRP for Norfolk on Intelsat's Spot 3/3X Beam

Lovely thanks so much. I know nothing about European satellites but would love to get into it.

The reason I asked if Intelsat was Thor is I can only get Thor 5 on my Horizon sat meter. I take it getting a lock onto Thor 5 would be fine?

If you want to learn, get yourself a motorised dish and install it at your house. You would learn a lot.

Thanks for all your help guys. Much obliged. :)

Well I just popped round and what I thought was going to take ages took no time at all. Locked onto Thor 5 pretty much straight away.

Jobs a good un!

Once again thanks for your help. ;)

Nice one. Thanks for the update - its always good to hear of a successful resolution to a problem :)

Hi

I have a viewing card from Digi Tv and need some help with choosing the right dish. Does the dish have to be 90cm? Someone told me that in England you can only have one dish/house. Is it true?
Thank you.

Basically you can have 2 dishes the biggest of which can be no more than 1m.

Different rules apply if you live in a conservation area.
