Just got one today from Aldi and so far so good. Better than the previous cheapies from B&Q, Aldi and Screwfix circa 2010. Sharp picture on HD, records to FAT32 or NTFS. May have a problem with USB3 drives. Plays most files apart from Fortec P+ unless remuxed. Some of the files recorded from the 2010 cheapies look sharp, proving the HDMI was the weak picture link on those. Player has 'goto' and up to x32 FF&RW + A-B replay. Only works on some files.
This is a tiny box, about the size of a chunky stanav. No room on the back for the usb and power sockets so they're on the sides. No S/PDIF , no room for CAM. Works from 12v but both mains PSU and car socket supplied. Reasonably quick blind search. A bug with the 'favourites' button locks out the 'all' list, needs cycling through 'radio/tv' to unlock. Some problems with 'move' channel if channels are sorted. 'Newsat' defaults to commonest settings. Remote likes high angle, so sluggish if receiver is low down unless tipped upward. Still sluggish on some commands.
Had some glitchy recordings but not sure if broadcaster at fault. Will check further. One-touch record doesn't include ad-hoc timer. Portable kit comes in moulded box with 35mm metal dish, various mounts, cable, F-connectors, flat cable and sat finder. Nice inclinometer on dish. Will check out Diseq tomorrow if recordings ok.
Haven't checked the Diseq but checked the other bits worked. The sat finder is a bit insensitive, just makes noise ATT, used my audio pitch change finder, simpler but better.
Blind search on 19.2E took 13min and found 98 tp, 1022 tv and 156 radio, 13E took 7min found 103 tp, 1337 tv and 298 radio. Channels seemed to be saved in no logical order and can only be moved within 'all' channels, not per satellite. 'All' can be globally sorted.
Large recorded files show up as a single file in the PVR but are split at circa 500Mb, suffix .mts, .mts1, .mts2 etc., yet another different method. No OSD of HD screen res but recorded files display res and i/p in the info box. No OSD of signal strength just quality. Full EPG on most German channels but no page down on lists just on info.
