RS232 doesn't work

Hi all, with all your knowledge of dreamboxes I think you can help me.
My dreambox 500S (clone) don't connect via RS232 )(-redwhy? Over net works without problem. Second problem is that I can barely here sound settings max on DB and max TV.

as this is my first post i hope i get it right. i had a simmilar problem with the rs232 cable,it was,nt compatable with my computers operating system.I was useing vista but the disk that came with the rs232 was only good for xp. i had to go out and buy a much more expensive cable to do the job.Now the secound problem i,m not too sure about.if your useing the computer try the "master" settings for sound and vidio.
This may not be too helpful but it may give you something to think about.I hope you make out alright...kevin666
 
Thx for reply, but this solution doesn't help. Aha second trouble is sound, I have set max volume on DB but on TV I hear almost nothing.

Are you using a true serial port on your pc or a usb converter, the serial port is much better...

Are you sure its the right cable there are lots on nearly right cables that just won't do it...

I had the very same problem with it just not being recognised I bought a replacement cable (£3) and it worked 1st time...
