Test signals on Astra 1D. They have replaced the tests on the co-located Thor 2.

1D is heavily inclined - currently over 4 degrees, but is on the main arc around 1730 uk time. As you can see the old bird is putting out a huge signal, and is an exceptionally easy catch :D

Its interesting watching the signals improve and degrade over an hour or so. :)

Both coming in on H and V for me very strong but a bit stronger on H around 14.5 dB on F15 receiver.

Not even a trace of signal dawn here .

Umm interesting - still getting 1D two hours later - would have expected the signals to have disappeared by now as she heads off the arc! :D

Oh my... I remember trying to catch this satellite with frequency extenders back in the 90's on my Amstrad SRD510!

Not catching it at the moment but it's -3.8 degrees inclined right now!

I found a frequency extender lying around in one of my spares boxes not too long ago. I think it went into the recycling bins at the local tip with most of my analogue gear :(

So do I, I had this exact receiver in my bedroom.

frequency extenders???

Are these the little box (black thing about the size of two 20 boxes of cigarettes) with either a switch or a knob on the top and an F socket on both sides, sat inbetween the box and the lnb?

I can sort of remember those lol

That's right smoggy. They shifted frequencies by 250 MHz so that ones in the 10700-10950 range were shifted up to 10950-11200 range.

Found 1D this morning! It's almost like watching D2MAC all over again!

I've still got my frequency extender in a box somewhere I think. Used to watch RTL5 on it.

Astra 1D has moved on meanwhile, and is now settling near 52.15 East.
No signal found yet, half an hour ago during the Clarke-belt pass.

I guess it might be worth starting a new thread in the reports section now as 1D is at 52E.

Nothing ventured nothing gained - Ive asked SES via their fb page to turn the old girl back on again :-rofl2

Astra 1D left 52.15 East, going West with 1 degree/day.

To the graveyard?

Doesn't like like that yet, but orbit raising may take a couple of days. Patience...
