Russian fm band alive with stations

Ive just had a whim to explore the OIRT FM band on my little Baofeng UV-9R handheld & Ive discovered at least 4 radio channels active including 66.1MHz & 66.6MHz

Anyone got a list of the currently active OIRT frequencies? (Antenna used = 144MHz dipole!)

Click on the FM DX tab at the top and select Europe, it will give you a map showing where its coming in from.
 
Strangely Im hearing Classic FM on 66.7MHz - which I guess must be some sort of mixing product on on of he local tx'ers seeing as it should be on 100&101 MHz!
 
How have you got the uv-9 to receive out of band ?

Baofeng don't actually acknowledge a 9r in their inventory
 
FM 65 is in the spec. By doing a factory reset on it Ive got it to go down to 130MHz which was a hell of a surprise but theoretically should give me the chance to monitor the local gliding club frequency although operations are rather limited there and they are the other side of a hill so it will be air to ground only.

By the looks of it the uv5R should do oirt band as well.
 
Yes, there is the FM band on the uv-5 , though there is nothing available around here on the discone, at least below 70.1MHz where there is some faint singing.

Annoyingly, the FM section is disabled if the squelch is turned off ( 0) in the main menu, which screws up the faint 2m chat from three not so local amateur groups, prompting me to consider raising the antenna another few metres on the roof ( with added risk of the neighbours noticing everything else up there)

Yes harmonics are a big problem with high powered transmitters, the FCC spec over here says -65 dBm for any harmonics or spurious transmissions, but when your running at +65 to +75 dBm ERP the harmonics and inter-mod can be murder, co-channel and adjacent channel spacing is important, X number of miles from the next channel up or down the band, (X is determined by your ERP) so two channels too close to each other (in miles or KM) can produce a third,(or more) and the funny thing is that the stronger of the two will win out on the modulation, otherwise all you would hear is gobbledygook.
