Hi I've looked on the IHAD web site and done a search on the web and I expect it's staring me in the face but...

Where can I download the Samba plugin for the 7020 so I can manually load it.

Search google on "samba 7020 plugin". 3rd link down has it.

This takes me to the freesat site and I still can't find it. I must be loosing it (too many late nights FTPing)
 
sorry, you're right... in that link it is part of an image.

Not on olmi either. Why do you want samba on the DB?


Found it.

You can add them into the /var filesystem. You first need to FTP samba.tar.gz to your dreambox in /var/tmp. Then you must execute the following telnet commands:

  • cd /var
  • gzip -dc /var/tmp/samba.tar.gz | tar xf -
Don't forget to reboot the dreambox after installing samba.

To transfer movie files from the DB to a PC I read somewhere that it was the best way to map your DB hard drive onto your PC. The DB hard drive appears as Z drive in windows explorer.

I shall try it tonight.
 
Can anyone confirm this version of Samba works in the 7020? I had no luck when I tried to install this samba manually - I broke my image settings. I did notice the dependent nsl library differs on the Dreambox (2.6.9).

Can the Gemini 2.20 plugin for Samba be used instead?
