Korean electronics giant Samsung has used LA’s SID (Societyfor Information Display) symposium to unveil its latest LCD TV, according to HDTV Europe.
Sizing in at a massive 82in, the panel is the first Ultra HDscreen of its size. The ‘UD’ TV boasts a pixel count of 3840 × 2160 pixels(4k2k), twice that of Full HD.
The TV also houses a 120Hz refresh rate and an impressive120fps playback.
Not the biggest...
This isn’t the first Ultra HD TV to be announced, however,or the biggest. A 150in Panasonic screen was announced at CES this year. Theresolution on this beast was a tremendous but similar 4000 x 2000 pixels.
Both screens utilise Super Hi-Vision technology, pioneeredby Japanese broadcaster NHK. With this new technology it is possible for HD imagesto stretch to 7680 x 4320 pixels, double that of Samsung’s latest announcement.
Before Full HD buyers everywhere weep into their ‘lowly’1080p sets, there is no announcement when, or indeed if, these players willship to the UK.
