i have a Vu+ Duo 4K SE & as the tuners are quite deaf & no blindscan im trying to setup using the tuners in my Octagon SF8008 V1 on the Vu+. i have installed & enabled Sat PI on the Octagon & Sat IP Client on the Vu+ but when searching under 'discovery' it finds nothing (although sometimes it finds itself), both are running Open ATV 7.6 Beta. the Octagon also has TNAP 6 & the latest Define OS installed. i also tried 'Fallback Remote Receiver Settings' but again it doesnt find the Octagon. i dont want to import channel lists or EPG just to use the Octagons tuners for searching. what am i doing wrong & how do i get it working ? on a side note i have setup, network mounted & can access the SSD in the VU+ on the Octagon

thanks

Sorry I can't really help with the question but I've found my Vu+ Duo 4K SE receivers to have pretty sensitive tuners in them so I was surprised to hear you think they are quite deaf. I know they are no good for blind scan but in terms of sensitivity, I've found them to be up there with some of the better old school receivers.

no worries

when i scan weak satellites like 7°W i get over twenty more channels using same dish (& longer cable run) on my Octagon SF8008. some like the radio stations on 45°W it completely misses, when they boom in on the Octagon

Oh right, that's interesting. Could the Vu+ tuner be getting swamped by too much signal? I haven't had that issue with mine but in the past I found when I was using Inverto Black Ultra LNBs on the Dr.HD F15 on a short cable run I had to use an attenuator to get a better signal. I used a variable attenuator so I could check the signal as I adjusted the pot but I took it out when switching to the Vu+ as it didn't seem to make any improvements.

maybe im not sure, is worth a try mind & i will give it ago. iv always had the same issues when i compare to other receivers. also i get channel breakup on some weak channels when their fine & more signal level on the Octagon. when i first got the Vu+ i found OpenBH was not as deaf but since Open ATV 7.5 onwards i find the tuners are just as sensitive as OpenBH

just an update, iv got it working. i had to connect my Octagon with an ethernet cable for something unrelated & now it fully works & i even have blindscan as an option in the menus. before it was connected via wifi & didnt work. so in order for Sat IP to work both receivers need to be connected via ethernet. might be useful for anyone else who has the same issue.

If you use minisatip as server, it shows signal

minisatip_signal.webp

Also, i tried Sat Pi as sever to blindscan, zgemma h11s from osmini4k, but it hangs

On minisatip as server, it goes through the 4 stages, quickly and finds nothing

You can check the feeds, of the image you are using, with telnet

opkg update
opkg list minisatip
opkg install minisatip

Code:

thanks will give it ago. Sat IP works but i keep having to readd the server as for some reason it keeps loosing it, also after awhile it times out & a reboot fixes the issue.

btw i take it i need to install it on both the client & server receivers like ?

Install minisatip as a server, then satip as a client

Tested on Satdreamgr as client, openspa as server
