Can anyone please help
i have a maxview satalite dish and Maxview MXL020 receiver.
I am trying to set it up for my laptop so i can take it in my motorhome .
I have a new laptop with a digital tv pc card which works great .
The only problem i think is connecting the receiver to the laptop
The input on the laptop tv card is RF coax but the outputs on the receiver are
a, Scart socket
b, IF out
c, 3 Phono type connectors (1 left audio 1,right audio and 1saying coaxial)

I have seen a IF - RF converter

Would this work to connect to the tv card via a short coax cable or not. I know there is voltage on the lnb input (same type of connection as IF out).
I dont want to fry my new laptop.
is it possable to just get a scart to rf converter socket.

Not sure what you are trying to achieve here, please spell it out, what is the laptop for, just to display the output?

rather than have a laptop and TV I wanted to take just the laptop and use it as a monitor (as well as a pc).
I’m sure there must be someway to connect the receiver output to the laptop TV card input.
It picks up and displays digital TV far better than the purpose built motor home TV i have(due to a better quality screen I presume)
 
Yes the quality will be much better on a modern LCD screen, but the output of the stb cannot be connected to the input of a terrestrial digital receiver to achieve this

Some laptops do have a video in connector though not many

Only if your video card also has an analogue tuner, does it?
 
No its a digital tv card but i could get a analouge card.
Does that mean a rf modulator will convert the digital signal from the receiver scart output to a analouge rf signal
is there no way of keeping the signal digital for the rf input
