Satellite Broadband - Multiple users

Hi, has anyone managed to get a small LAN with a few users to work on a Satellite broadband modem?
I have tried a standard Ethernet router with NAT enabled but it stops working after a random period.
I have tried DHCP enabled but will try setting up using a Static IP for the router to see if that works, don't know why it stopped but the ISP simply says "We don't provide support for routers" yet there advertising says that multiple users CAN be connected.

They also have a 'Business' product that DOES support LANS but we don't need anything more than a basic data allowance and therefore the Business option would not be suitable.

Any advice greatly accepted.

I seem to remember that the modem will drop the connection with inactivity, in the old days of satellite internet, people used to use a small data program which periodically sent out a ping to keep the connection active.

If it is the iDirect system it should work. Not too sure about others.

Which satellite are you taking signal from ?
