I was given a satellite receiver to test. It is Alma S2200, a simple basic receiver with horrible video quality.
Anyway, it has two problems:
1 - The remote control has few buttons that don't work. The OK button (the most important button) and the other up, down, left and right work but not so good.
I suppose I can order a replacement remote, not original for 8 Pounds + Shipment but it isn't really worth the trouble and I would rather try to open the original remote and clean the contacts, if this is at all possible, but I know that these remotes will not work again after I open them.

2 - The factory default password which is supposed to be "0 0 0 0" according to the manual. doesn't work and I am not sure if the owner has messed it up or it is just a fault in the receiver.
Anyway I tried several other well known codes to no avail.
Is there an easy way to set it back to factory default without inputting 10,000 passwords?

Thanks for your help.

I think under the following selections hit "Menu" then select the "Information" tab you could enter the following, 11111 for factory test, or 99999 for device info, but be careful as the wrong code (other then the ones mentioned) could wipe out the eeprom, I think it was 39393 or 36363, something like that there.

And you have tried 8888 or 9999 right?

Thanks. I found a list of some useful codes and they worked, but not the 0 0 0 0

There is a hidden menu with five digit entries

In the "Tools" -> "Information" -> Press 3 6 3 6 3
EEPROM is cleared and prompts onsecreen to restart the device

Could the default password be "1234" and the manual be a misprint or different revision? I've had that in the past when it said one thing but was actually another...
