Can anyone give me a step by step process to put the firmware of a receiver into the root memory of a USB stick ?

I've tried three times today with no luck.

Probably too late by now, but for future information the root just means not inside any folders on the stick.

Unzip the firmware, and copy it onto the memory stick.

If it doesnt work then the stick may be incompatible with that receiver so try another make of stick.

If you're unzipping a zip file. sometimes it will create a folder for you. You have to copy the files out of the folder into the root. Sometimes a folder is referred to by its older name of a directory.

Another, slighter, possibility is that the USB stick is formatted wrongly. The receiver handbook should state what formatting it can understand but a good probability is to use FAT32.

Ah sorry, fixed it after a day or so of head scratching.

The USB stick needs to be incuded in the list of 'trusted sources'of the host PC by including it within the 'shared documents' section before the root memory can be used for upgrading.
