Hi,

I tried upgrade my Satlink yesterday and middle of the process everything went black.

Now I can't see anything. Backlight button is working, other buttons are dead.

Is there any solution to restore my Satlink? Hard reset or something?

Normally, the bootloader remains intact and it should be possible to flash the meter through RS232, which is probably what you did in the first place.

Are you shure you flashed the right firmware? Often similar devices use different LCD's and frontend's. Flashing the wrong firmware will cause either to not work properly.

If the flashing process got interrupted half way, it was either due to a communication fault (less probable, as the flashing itself only happens after the new firmware was transferred to the device's memory) or, worse, the RAM or the FLASH memory is broken. In this case, you can basically forget about the device...

Regards,
vma

Cheers vma!

I think that the firmware was right. I downloaded it from SatLink´s (AU) home page.

I used USB stick in update process (Put file on the stick and stick to device USB port and from menu, update software). Started normally, but about few minutes screen went black. I waited about ten minutes then I shut down power.

Do you have any idea is there some kind of solution to drive new software in? Somehow I don´t think that RAM has been physically "broken broken".

Does it have a serial port? Does the manufacturer provide a tool to flash via RS232?

Mine broke because of that stupid update. There is no way to return it, or if you can, please let me know. Although, it seems that the scrap is already in SER circulation.

A lot of us had a somewhat similar issue with the WS-6906 meter - so I wonder if a similar "solution" might work for the 6905. If you want to have a try then start here and then follow the embedded links in that for more info, and take into account any differences that you find between the two meter types.

It will not be a quick, and certainly not be a easy/simple, solution - and don't blame me if it doesn't work as I frankly don't care because I threw my 6906 out a long time ago (and thus don't ask me for any further advice because you won't get it!).

How old is your device and what happened when you accessed the Satlink upgrade site in your region ?
