Vu uno, VU Duo2, sky dish, 2 zone 2 dishes for 19.2 and 23.5. Satlink meter, rover STCeu meter. Tripod with a dish for messing around.

Hi,

Got the satlook micro G2. i am trying to tune fine tune my motorised system, the problem i am finding is that i have installed the updates etc and i cant get the micro to move the motor to a USALs position, what is the point of inserting my long and lat if i cant use it for USALs?

I have found that i am plugging the meter straight in to the LNB and using my dreambox to move the dish to my desired satellite is the only way to do it.... if this is the case then a 60 quid meter would of done the trick.
 
Might be an idea to read the manual although the info you require is in the sticky thread.

DiSEqC 1.2 control can only be used on LNB-A input. You need to select GoToX once coordinates are entered.
 
1.2 yes but not USALs 1.3? i have had a good look through the manual, another thaing that has missed is the spectrum analyser, cant find it anywhere, not that it matters as i dont really need it.

does anyone has a stored satellite list for this meter with the strongest TPs configured?

if so if they could upload it i would appreciate ot loads and loads!!
 
It would appear you have the Satlook Micro, not the G2 version which has the spectrum analyser and USALs function.
 
yeah it is the micro, i said that in the initial post. but it is the g2 version also.... when you turn it on it makes atari noise then shows G" in huge letters, but it is the micro.

bit of a pain but i will be keeping it, just need to get my mits on a decent config list now, the one on the manufacturers site is a bit cack
 
If it's a G2, then on start up it will display G2. This model will have DiSEqC 1.3/USALs and spectrum function.

I mention G2 as you've titled the thread as such :)

ok when i got it it was a micro +

i did the update and it is now the Micro G2.

it doesnt have the spectrum analyser but i have just noticed i can make it move the motor using the goto and it says 13 then when i spin the wheel it changes by 1 decimal place. happy with that.

Do you have a list of strong transponders on yours? do you use it a different way?


have you updated yours to the latest firmware to make it the g2?

I have the Micro G2 too, I just use the transponder list with Easyfind , which I have manualy updated to include certain transponders from each satellite. But the spectrum dudes, know each satellite by what its spectrum looks like, but that takes a bit of practice.
 
Satellite identification, for me, is carried out by spectrum trace, then SNR & BER for optimising.

The upgrade to G2 should include the spectrum, plain and simple. It's possible to add your own transponders to any satellite configuration.

If you've stumbled across USALs function, you may find the spectrum also :)

Hi Robbo, does yours have the spectrum? from my last meter i can spot certain satellites by the trace but i would not want to rely upon it. as i say it is a nice feature to have but on a cheaper meter the update isnt realtime enough.
interestingly i just spotted thislink it appears you need to pay to get spectrum mode enabled

On another note i read "unlocking kit" and unofficial upgrades etc, what version are you on? (setup - version)

Robbo, could you send me your config list please? i know it is cheaky and i should just do my own but i am not to sure which are the strongest and so forth.

Yes, mine has got the Spectrum analyser, and yes I agree, the update rate is a bit on the slow side, one of the reasons I tend not to use it, but its there if I need to.


My TP list is not perfect, I have just added them before I have gone to a job, where I know there may be difficulties with a specific transponder on a specific satellite. It isn't probably what you are looking for, besides I don't have the software or lead, on even a serial port on my PC to get it off. Meter is charging at the mo' I 'll check which version of software it has later.

after doing a bit of reading i think i have figured it out,

If you buy or have bought the old micro+ meter you can upgrade it for free to the G2 BUT it doesnt come with the same features as an original G2, it doesnt have spectrum analyser or the easyfind feature. you can buy this upgrade from emittor for 99 euros.

If you buy an emittor micro from the factory today it comes as a G2 with all the features as standard.

I think.....
 
Ah, nice find. Depending on how often your going to use it, the spectrum option (although a slower sweep than others) is well worth the extra. Again depends on use and familiarity of spectrum diagrams.
 
i was keen on the easy find function that is missing, overall the meter is very good. i did an install yesterday and it really is a good meter, in my opinion it is as good as if not better than my excel TV mk3 which cost 560, this one was 250.
