Saving My Old Channel Master Polar Mount

Hi,
I just heard the cruel reality, the owner of Channel Master has stopped making polar mount for my 1m20.
I decided to change mine after almost 20 years of loyal service but NOW I have to save him from rust for an other 20 years!

An inspection regime is appropriate for satellite installations - at least yearly to check for the very problem you have now discovered.

Clean it up and see if anyone locally does powder coating.

Ask remlap he restored a cm polar mount, there's a thread on the forum about it.

Living near the coast doesn't do the mount any favours, you might be better off stripping back to bare metal and zinc anodising everything.

Yes i'm a realy bad father, but the salt do it work to...
After 3h of work using grinder, sand paper and Dremel i finaly found this result for the first part.
Not perfect but better than nothing...

I put up a brand new CM Polar Mount last year. For a week ago i took it down and had to take it apart as it has already started to rust.
Now it's all sanded and repainted , i dont dare to think how it would be after 20 years without this repaint.
My Laminas Polar Mount is hot galvenized and it's how it shall be done, not just crappy factory paint .

I finished to paint it today !
Yes, galva is the best solution, but this time i try to do a good paint job...
Next time i will do my own polar mount a copy of the one on the second pic.

Yes, i had the same idea!
but it will be hard to found every single part in Mauritius...

Get a welder to cut and weld the required parts.
