hi im wondering if anyone can help me.. i have bought a technomate tm5400 super usb. i pluged it in to my standard dish all the normal channels i can view but why cant i view the scrambled channels???

Because you need access to a subscription to view most of them - theres very little open on patches / keys these days.

I would have thought that was pretty obvious.

However. What are you trying to watch?? You are in the UK so presumably its Sky UK yes?

Yup. And Im not sure if it will work in your receiver, so you may have to have a Sky digibox as well! :D

so whats the point in the reciver y not just have a sky box??

Not everybody wants to watch Sky or wants to watch the free channels on a Sky box! :-rofl2

Even if you do get the card working in the TM you wont have anything near the functionality of a proper Sky box - for example

- no red/green button
- no proper epg - you will get now & next nothing more

And, being a proper Digital Satellite Receiver, it has the ability to receive Channels from a wide variety of other Satellites, subject to appropriate dish alignment (or means of moving the dish).

s6ryy if you thought the TM was a magic box capable of giving you free Sky UK then Im afraid you have been sadly mistaken. If it was that easy we would ALL be doing it!

However for the free channels its a perfectly capable receiver even allowing for the limitations I mentioned above.

If you can connect your TM to a computer using an RS232 null modem cable (and I'm not sure if you can) then it may be possible to use SSSP / WSP.
WSP certainly will connect to a (0963) remote card, but you would have to search the internet for the necessary parameters.
Then it would depend on whether your receiver could decrypt the signal.
Sorry I can't help more, but I don't have a TM, and I'm in the process of upgrading.......
